Overview
Full blade inspection of 87 wind turbines at a 210MW wind farm in eastern Colorado. Thermal and visual imaging identified 34 blade defects, preventing costly unplanned outages.
Inspection Overview
Inspected 87 wind turbines (261 blades) at hub heights ranging from 80m to 120m. Used a purpose-built inspection drone with 200x zoom and radiometric thermal camera, operating in sustained 25mph winds.
Findings & Impact
Identified 34 blade defects including 6 leading-edge erosion cases requiring immediate repair and 4 delamination events. Estimated $1.8M in avoided downtime costs from proactive maintenance scheduling.
